Funding and Bursaries
Whenever you apply for any funding, it is always advisable to include the costs of training.
Even if your project or activity employs ‘experienced staff’, they may still need project-specific skills, or renewal of certificates, (first aid, health and safety, manual handling etc) – or they may need to attend conferences or regional and national events which are linked to the activity. It is good employment practice to encourage and enable staff to attend appropriate training and related events. Hopefully funders will recognise this good practice and will be able to support it by providing funding for training within their grants.
This section provides information about possible sources of funding for training costs. Follow the links below for details of funding which your organisation may be able to apply for.
Grants available for training on children's workforce topics
The eligibility criteria are fairly broad, so do take a look to see if you could benefit from this grant scheme, which is funded by the Children's Workforce Development Council.
For more information, see http://www.navca.org.uk/stratwork/children/cwdc.htm
NAVCA have announced two new grant schemes - for individuals to undertake training (up to £300 per organisation) and for good practice exchange visits. More details on the above website.
Charities Aid Foundation
- the grantmaking fund is currently closed and under review. CAFwill be re-launching a new grant programme later on this year.
Charities Aid Foundation - Venturesome- social investment fund
Under the social investment fund, CAF is able to provide advice and capital investment to charities and other social purpose organisations - because at times, capital investment is necessary - for growth, covering cash flow difficulties or weathering difficult periods - but difficult to access. Such financial needs may fall outside the criteria of a grant maker, but be too risky for a bank loan.
Venturesome fills this funding gap, providing capital investment tailored to suit the needs of individual organisations.
For more information go to the CAF website.
